MDPH fast-track: the urgent situations listed on the form

Updated · 5 min read · Written by L'équipe DossierMalin

The short answer

On page 3 of the application form, a box lets you flag that your situation needs fast processing. Six situations are listed, including rights ending in less than 2 months, a risk of losing your job, or leaving hospital with nowhere to go. Tick the one that applies and explain the difficulty in the space provided.

Why it matters

In 2023, an MDPH application took 4.7 months on average (CNSA). When your situation cannot wait, the form lets you say so. You still have to see the box: it sits on page 3, in the middle of part A, which is about your identity.

The six situations

Under the heading “You think your situation needs your application to be processed quickly”, the form lets you tick:

  1. Your rights end in less than 2 months (for example AEEH, AAH, PCH, RQTH). Give the rights concerned and their end dates.
  2. You can no longer manage to live at home, or you are at risk of no longer managing.
  3. Your school can no longer take you, or may soon be unable to.
  4. You are leaving hospital and cannot go back home or to your facility.
  5. You may soon lose your job.
  6. You have just found a job or are about to start a training course. Give the planned start date.

Explaining the difficulty

A ticked box on its own says little. The form has an “Explain the difficulty” space: use it to give precise facts.

Example. “My AAH ends on 30 November. Without it, I cannot pay my rent from December.”

Stick to facts: dates, deadlines, and what will actually happen if the decision is late. The MDPH works in French: write simply, or have the text translated.

The simplified procedure, not to be confused

On page 4, another box lets you ask for a simplified procedure in four cases: renewing a right when your situation has not changed, free pension insurance for a carer, recognition as a disabled worker (RQTH), or an urgent situation.

The form warns that in this case you cannot be heard in person by the CDAPH, the committee that decides your rights. Make that choice knowingly.

What happens next

Fast processing is not automatic: the MDPH looks at your situation. Keep a copy of your application and note your file number so you can follow up. Also check that the rest of the application is complete: a file missing a document waits, even when it is urgent. See the list of documents to provide.

Do not miss this box

DossierMalin asks “Is your situation urgent?” at the right moment, in English, and ticks the right box on the official French form.
