The deadlines to know

  • 4 months to answer. The MDPH has 4 months from receiving your application; with no answer, the request counts as refused (Service-Public). In 2023, the average was 4.7 months, with big differences between départements.
  • 15 days to react to the compensation plan. Before the commission, the MDPH sends you its proposals: you have 15 days to comment (Fédération des aveugles de France).
  • 2 months to challenge a decision. The mandatory administrative appeal must be filed within 2 months of receiving the decision, as must a request for conciliation. With no answer to the appeal within 2 months, it is rejected; you then have 2 months to go to court (Fédération des aveugles de France). See our guide to challenging an MDPH decision.
  • 6 months before your rights end, send the renewal: that is the advice of Mon parcours handicap. For an RQTH alone, Service-Public says 4 months, and applying extends it until the decision. See the renewal application.
  • On 31 December 2026, old disability, priority and parking cards stop being valid at the latest (Service-Public, Mon parcours handicap). See the mobility inclusion card.

How the dates are counted

A deadline in months runs from date to date: 2 months from 15 October end on 15 December. When the day does not exist, it is the last day of the month: 2 months from 31 December end on 28 February (or the 29th in a leap year).

If the last day falls on a weekend or public holiday, do not count on an extension: send your letter before, by registered post with acknowledgement of receipt, and keep the proof of posting.

The calculator gives the deadlines set by the rules. Your MDPH may answer sooner, or later: if in doubt, call it with your file number.
